Introduction

To promote winter tourism and safeguard the natural environment of Khuvsgul Lake, the “Blue Pearl” Ice Festival has been celebrated since 2000. Initially a local event, it has evolved into an international festival, attracting visitors from around the world. The festival is held in early March each year.

    • The Ice Festival features a wide array of activities and competitions designed for both domestic and international tourists. Notable events include:

    • The Great Fire of Mother Lake, a traditional Mongolian ritual

    • To ensure public safety and prevent pollution of Khuvsgul Lake, vehicles are restricted to dry land, allowing only pedestrians and horse-drawn carts on the ice during the festival.
